Where it comes from
It hatches from a 
Pterodactyl egg in your island's hatchery (72 hours). The egg drops from monsters in The Primeval Valley, on about 0.05% of kills. Nestor the Egg Man in the Yard trades one for 400 feather + 2 mammoth ivory. The Store sells it too. Two of them bred in your pen make a Greater one.
Wear, stow and name it in the Equipment tab. One at a time; the bonus stops the moment you stow it.
