The Tower

A solo climb: one door, 99 floors, one monster on each. It pays tickets, and it asks for food.

Getting started

  • The Tower stands in the Yard's north court, next to the furnace.
  • You need Combat 30 to go in. Floor 1 fights like a level 30 monster, and the top floor like a level 99 one.
  • Bring more fish than you think. At 4.5 minutes a floor, you're getting hit the whole time. Fill your bag.

How it works

  • Every fight lasts about the same: 4.5 minutes up to floor 30, 3 above it, whoever you are. Each floor is built around the damage you actually do, so better gear doesn't make the climb shorter; it makes it survivable. It's a long, quiet fight you can half watch.
  • Checkpoints every 5 floors. You don't start again at the bottom. The climb remembers the last checkpoint you passed, so a bad floor costs you at most 4. When you come back, you can start from that checkpoint or from floor 1.
  • A floor you can't finish is one you walk out of. Walking out is free; the climb is not.

Bosses

  • Every 10th floor is a boss, and floor 99 is The House.
  • A boss has 2× the health of a normal floor and gets meaner below half health. Arrive at floors 10, 20, 30 … 99 at full health.

Rewards

  • It pays well in tickets, but it's a wage, not a jackpot: deeper floors pay more because they take as long and hurt more.
  • Every 10th floor from 40, and the top, has a chest that opens the moment the floor is clear: 100 tickets a floor (4,000 on floor 40, 9,900 at the top), and a chance at the Stairwell signet, which nothing else gives: 4% on floor 40, rising to 14%.
  • Each landing's chest opens once per Chicago day.
  • The first person ever to clear floor 99 also gets the House Pet and the title « Top of the House ». There's only one of each.
