The Long Night: Round Two
Four new things for the second half of the Long Night, all ending with it on November 2nd: a reworked King, a door-to-door street, a new corn maze every night, and a horseman who rides three maps once a night.

The King, reworked
- He still rises every hour and stays twenty minutes, but on a different map each time, never the same one twice in a row and never the Yard: The Lantern Mire, The Gloam, The Boneyard, The Carnival, The Golden Sands. CASINO says where.
- He comes in a mood:
- The Pumpkin King, as he always was.
- The Rotten King: at half health he bursts into three pumpkinlings, all wearing his crown. Only one is him. Hit a wrong one and it bursts over everyone next to it (5% of your health). After 25 seconds, or when the fakes are gone, he's himself again.
- The Burning King: every 9 seconds he sets the ground on fire under whoever is standing close. Fire costs 4% of your health a second. Keep moving.
- The Gilded King: kill him 5 times in a row (an escape breaks the streak) and the next one comes gilded, with twice the health. Everyone who did their share gets 120 candy corn and a 10% chance at the Gourdling, a pet nothing else gives.
- His drops never repeat: a piece of his you already own (worn, in your bag or bank) comes as candy corn instead, a tenth of what Hexa charges for it. If you already have the Black Cat, its roll pays corn too.
Trick-or-Treat Street
Every evening from 7 to 9 PM Central, 10 doors light a jack-o'-lantern across the open maps (never the Yard), a different 10 each night. The chip at the top left lists them. Talk to the person and choose Knock, once a night each.
- Usually a treat: 8–16 candy corn (doubled at Nightfall), sometimes a pumpkin pie or two pumpkin seeds.
- A third of the time, a trick: for ten minutes everyone sees you as a monster (the Drowned, a crypt ghost, a moth, the Black Cat, a tax wraith, a ghoul, a grinner); or a cloud of bats follows you around; or a cold hand takes a few candy corn from your pockets. A costume is only a look: you fight, gather and talk exactly as before.
- Knock at all 10 and your Treat Bag is full: 40 candy corn and a stamp. 7 stamps earn a whole outfit: whichever of the Ghost and the Skeleton you don't have (or 1,500 candy corn if you have both).
The Corn Maze
Go through the gap in the corn on the west side of the Lantern Mire. There's a new maze every day, the same one for everybody, so Fastest tonight is a fair race. Go in alone or with friends.
- It's dark. You see what your lantern's beam lights (about 6 squares ahead, the way you're facing) and a little glow around you. What you've seen stays faintly on the map; the minimap shows nothing in here.
- Scarecrows stand in the corn. While anyone's beam is on one, it's just straw and doesn't move. Out of the light, it comes for you, a little faster than you walk. Hold one in your beam for 1.5 seconds and it loses its nerve and goes back to its post. Walk into one you're looking at and you knock it over for 3 seconds.
- Shift + an arrow key turns you without taking a step. That's how you look behind you.
- If you're grabbed, you scream and go back to the start. Nothing is lost.
- Fourteen kernels (3 corn each) are yours to pick up along the way. The Golden Kernel, as deep as the maze goes, is the way out: the first clear of the day pays 60 candy corn; after that it's for your time. 5 clears earn Jack's lantern.
- Click-to-walk only works over squares you've already seen. Otherwise the pathfinder would solve the maze for you.
The Headless Rider
Once a night, sometime between 9 and 11 PM Central, CASINO warns that he rides in five minutes. He rides the roads of The Gloam, then The Lantern Mire, then The Boneyard, about 2.5 minutes on each, leaving fire behind him on the road.
- Nothing can touch him in the saddle. Stand on his road (it glows) with a pumpkin in your bag and press Put a pumpkin in his road. When he rides over it he's thrown, and for 12 seconds he's on foot and anyone can hit him. Then he's back on his horse.
- Pumpkins grow on your island (Harvesting 20, an hour and a half; Hexa sells the seed). Every pumpkin that throws him counts toward your share, the same as damage.
- Kill him before he's through the third map and everyone who helped is paid by share: about 12,000 tickets between you plus 1,500 for each helper (at least 300 each), 20–60 candy corn, and a 2% chance each at the Headless Pony.
- If he gets through, he takes the Night Market's lanterns with him: Hexa is closed for 20 minutes.
Hexa's back room, and a title
| Thing | Price |
|---|---|
| Jack's lantern | 1,500 candy corn |
| The costume wardrobe | 3,000 candy corn |
| Headless Pony | 15,000 candy corn |
« Survived the Long Night », a title for the Store's Name tab, is earned (never sold) by doing any three of the four: kill a King, fill a Treat Bag, clear the Corn Maze, help bring down the Rider.
