Cooking
Cook raw food at a campfire or range. Cooked food heals you and is worth about twice as much as raw.

Getting started
- There's a campfire just inside the Yard, by the way in from the casino, and a range in some buildings. Click it with raw food in your bag.
- The fire always cooks the best thing in your bag that you can cook, so there's nothing to choose.
- Raw fish can't be eaten and Bom won't buy it, so every fish is worth a stop at the fire on the way home.
- Meat is the easy start. You can cook a chicken at level 1 without a rod.

How it works
- You'll burn a lot at first, and less every level. At a dish's own level, 40% burn. Each level above it burns 1% fewer, down to 2% thirty-eight levels later (the third column). That 2% stays all the way to 99.
- Only no-burn effects stop it completely: the Kiln tonic, the Cinder Salamander, Steady Hands, the Pressure Cooker or the Smokehouse.
- A range burns a fifth less than a fire. Each cook takes 2.4 s.
Dishes from the farm
Six dishes, each a 10-minute meal with something no fish gives you. You can have one meal at a time, next to a drink, and it only counts down outside.
| Cook at | Dish | From | Heals | For 10 minutes outside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | Tomato soup | 2 tomatoe, wheat, small vial of water | 40 | 3% of what you mine, cut or catch comes up double |
| 28 | Rattlebean chili | 2 rattlebean, raw beef | 80 | you pick pockets 4% more reliably |
| 44 | Lanternroot hash | 2 lanternroot, raw boar | 104 | food heals 10% more (not meals) |
| 58 | Stormcorn chowder | stormcorn, sky eel, medium vial of water | 120 | your spells hit 5% harder |
| 65 | Gourd soup | glass gourd, bonegourd, medium vial of water | 132 | your arrows hit 5% harder |
| 78 | Ember bread | 2 ember wheat, charcoal, medium vial of water | 160 | the cold doesn't bite, as if you wore a Frost ward |
Ember bread keeps the cold off. Eat it before the Frozen Reach and, for its 10 minutes, the cold doesn't bite, just as if you wore a Frost ward.
Game meat
Five animals drop a cut you can cook, on about a third of kills, so a fighter can cook what they kill all the way up.
| Cook at | Meat | Drops from | Heals |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40 | Ram chop | Cumulus Ram | 96 |
| 55 | Goose breast | Thunder Goose | 120 |
| 80 | Possum on a stick | Rabid Possum | 160 |
| 88 | Gator tail | Yard Gator | 168 |
| 95 | Mammoth steak | Woolly Mammoth | 192 |
Going further
- A fish cooks when you can catch it. The mudcat, bowfin, voidfin and grimscale cook at the Fishing level they bite at (80, 88, 92 and 97).
- The Cook's cape: at Cooking 99, Salty Meg, on the Boardwalk sells it for 99,000 tickets. The food you eat heals a fifth more, and 20% of cooks make two.
Tips
- 26 of these can be smoked instead. A smoked fish heals 8% more and sells for more. It needs charcoal, and the fire smokes automatically when you carry some. See Smoked fish.
