Hitpoints

Goes up as you fight: the damage you deal pays it (fully with a melee weapon, a third as fast with a bow or a wand), and the damage a monster's swing takes off you pays it three times as much again, so whoever takes the hits grows the health. Your Hitpoints level sets your maximum health. Rings and amulets ask for Hitpoints eight below their tier (a Nova ring wants 72); at 95 the anvil makes the Ivory torc and the Rex-tooth ring, and at 99 Sister Morrow in the Boneyard sells the Survivor's cape: five levels' worth of max health, and four times the healing out of a fight.
