Before you go

• Where: through its door in the Undergate, for a party of 2 to 8.
• Like every dungeon, a wipe loses the ante.
• The pay is shared by the party, by damage, like every dungeon: do at least 10% of the work for a full share.

How a run works

• The Stacks, the Map Room and the Bindery, then the winch that opens her reading room.
• The monsters' bites are poison: it keeps hurting after the hit.
• The ink tide. Every 25 seconds or so the ink wells up under one of you: a circle on the floor, and 3 seconds later it surges. Anyone still in it loses 12% of their health, and any monster in it heals 15%. Step out, and pull your fight out with you.

The Head Librarian

She waits alone on a small platform at the end of a one-tile causeway. Nobody fights her from the water: step off the causeway into her room and the ink drags you onto the platform.

• Overdue. Every 14 seconds she names one of you: a circle, and 3.5 seconds later a fine of 40% of your health. It's split between everyone standing with them, so gather on whoever she names.
• Reading aloud. Every 10 seconds she reads a page and heals a little: 1% of her health, never more than 25% in a fight.
• Furious. Under 30% health she slams the book shut and hits 25% harder, but her reading heals half as much.

Rewards

• Everyone who earned the clear opens their own returns chest: the clear's tickets, then a few more things.
• Its monsters sometimes drop a soggy tome (2% a kill).
• 3 paid clears a Chicago day each; after that a clear pays 25%.
