The Undergate

Every party dungeon starts here: a hall under the Yard with a door for each dungeon, a campfire, a bank, the Party Finder and Bartholomew "The Margin" Brightshield at his till.

Getting started

  • Take the stairs down in the Yard.
  • Find a party at the Party Finder board in the middle of the hall (or Party Finder in the World menu): list your party with what you're running, or put yourself down as looking. The leader can call a ready check.
  • After a clear, back in the Undergate, the leader is offered Replay or Next (the next depth, then Hardcore, then the next Nightmare).

The doors

Easiest on the left, hardest on the right. A door opens once you've cleared the dungeon before it (its last depth), and each depth after the first opens once you've cleared the one above it. A clear you already have still counts. Everyone in the party needs it.

Hardcore

Each dungeon's deepest depth, but harder: monsters have 55% more health and hit 40% harder, and the hoard pays 1.6x. It opens once you've cleared that depth. Every dungeon adds one twist of its own:

  • The Unquiet Crypt: Bound Bones. A monster within 2 tiles of another takes 35% less damage. Pull them apart.
  • The Pharaoh's Wrath: The Tomb's Curse. Each kill curses the killer: 8% more damage taken for 20 seconds, stacking. Share the killing blows.
  • The Rat King's Court: The Swarm. A monster hits 15% harder for each other monster that hit the same player in the last 3 seconds. Spread them out.
  • The Endless Shift: Second Wind. When a monster dies, others within 3 tiles heal 20% of their health. Kill them together, or one at a time out of reach.
  • The Unwritten Chapter: Grudges. A monster hits the last player who hit it 40% harder, everyone else 25% softer. Let one player hold it.
  • The Shattered Queen: Mirror Guard. A monster takes half damage unless a second player hit it in the last 3 seconds. Gang up.

Nightmare

After a Hardcore clear, play the same depth at Nightmare 1 to 20, one tier at a time. Each tier adds health, damage and pay, up to 3.5x health, 2.2x damage and 3.5x pay. Two modifiers each week, the same for everyone:

  • Brutal: 15% of monster hits land half again as hard.
  • Bloodthirsty: Monsters heal a tenth of the damage they deal.
  • Frenzied: Below half health, monsters hit 15% harder.
  • Thick-Skinned: Bosses have a quarter more health.

A clear is scored by the tier, then the time and the deaths. A wipe still loses everything, like any run.

Records and titles

The Party Finder's Records tab ranks the fastest clears of every depth: all time, this season (a month) and this week, by party size, with your own bests. Titles are earned, never sold:

  • « Delver »: clear the deepest depth of every dungeon in the Undergate.
  • « Hardened »: clear every dungeon's Hardcore.
  • « Nightmare Walker »: clear Nightmare 10 in any dungeon.
  • « Season Champion »: hold first place on a dungeon records board when a season (a month) ends.

Bartholomew

He buys what drops in the dungeons for 1.2x the usual price, and sells three things that only work inside a dungeon, for 30 minutes each:

  • Delver's Draught (45,000 tickets): 15% more tickets from kills for 30 minutes, inside a dungeon only. Click to drink.
  • Warden's Tonic (37,500 tickets): Take 10% less damage for 30 minutes, inside a dungeon only. Click to drink.
  • Lantern Oil (60,000 tickets): Rare finds 25% more often for 30 minutes, inside a dungeon only. Click to drink.

Two games by the west wall

  • The Six Doors: pick one of 6. One is gold (pays 3.7x), one silver (2x), and the rest are empty: 16.7% each.
  • Rat Race: back one of 4 rats, 25% each, and a win pays 4x.
