The gem bag and the Gem Sorter
Gems are small permanent bonuses you carry everywhere. Find one, have the Gem Sorter roll its bonus, and put it in your gem bag.

Getting started
- Open the bag with the Gems button on your inventory; it pops open beside it.
- Only a sorted gem goes in, so take a new gem to the Gem Sorter first.
- Only the best 2 of any one gem count. A third topaz adds nothing, so fill the bag with different stones.
The Gem Sorter
A jeweler's bench in the Yard's north court. Stand by it and it will sort a gem (roll its bonus) for 10,000 tickets a roll, re-roll a sorted one for the same price, or buy any gem back for 1,500 tickets, whatever its roll. A roll lands between -5% and +10%, and the higher it is, the rarer it is. A negative roll is exactly that much worse.
| Band | Roll | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Perfect | +10% | 0.5% |
| Brilliant | +7% to +9% | 6% |
| Fine | +4% to +6% | 19% |
| Rough | 0% to +3% | 38% |
| Cracked | -5% to -1% | 38% |
A perfect +10% comes up on about 0.47% of rolls, and everyone nearby hears about it when somebody lands one.
The gem bag
- Up to 4 settings, for skilling stones only.
- One setting on each side is open from the start. The rest open for tickets, each side on its own: 25,000 tickets, then 100,000 tickets, then 250,000 tickets.
- Taking a gem out gives it back as it was, roll and all, so you can rearrange the bag.
Finding gems
From level 60 in a skill, every action has a 0.017% chance of turning up that skill's gem. Every gem found is unsorted, and it's yours: gems can't be traded or sold on the Exchange (the Gem Sorter buys them), and they bank like anything else.
Combat gems
Combat gems are retired (1.9): they give no bonus and no longer drop. Every sorted one was refunded at a Sorter roll plus its sell price, and every combat setting at its full price. The Gem Sorter buys an unsorted one for 1,500 tickets.

The loupes
The Store sells two loupes that raise the top of the Sorter's table. A loupe is a number of rolls, not a timer: while you hold any, the Sorter uses one on every roll (the Master's first), and each roll still costs its 10,000 tickets. You can hold up to 50 rolls. They buy speed, not money: a Perfect costs about what plain rolls would, it just comes sooner, with the +8s and +9s on the way.
| Roll | Plain | Jeweller's Loupe (10 rolls, 250,000 tickets) | Master Jeweller's Loupe (10 rolls, 900,000 tickets) |

| +9% | 0.94% | 2.7% | 5% |
| +10% | 0.47% | 1.8% | 5% |
